So, after being in San Jose for less than 24 hours we decided to take the ol’ carpe diem to the next level & hopped an afternoon bus for the Panama border.
7 hours & a frighteningly rickety bus adventure later we arrived at the Costa Rica/ Panama border.
The Panamanian immigration authorities demanded proof that we would not be relocating permanently to Panama. I was so Dramamine grogged at that point that I felt like reaching over the counter and putting that little man in a choke hold while asking him “do you REALLY think we’re moving to Panama??”
Luckily Neil saved the day by thinking of the brilliant idea of printing out our flight leaving San Jose in August. So, after a quick stop to an internet cafe (on the Panama side, yes that’s right you can just walk back and forth willy nilly) we were back with proof that our rendezvous in Panama is only temporary.
Now we are staying at a purple themed backpackers hostel in David, Panama…perhaps forever.
